Looks Like Federal Bond and Collection Services likes to share their exposure

In my battle with Federal Bond and Collection Service it appears that they are emailing other collection agencies and attorneys about my various blogs about their antics.

Some interesting traffic is coming from:

Phillips & Cohen Associates - Another Collection Agency
Michelle Hasenstab - an Attorney

Not to mention that several banks, credit unions and governement agencies are finding the blogs through search engines.

Thanks Federal Bond and Collection Service.

Post Dated Checks To Federal Bond and Collection Services

Federal Bond and Collection Services actively violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act according to several online sources.

Date: April 4, 2007

.....I talked to her "Floor Manager" to see about getting my original rep back but he too was extremely rude and "terminated the call" but not before he insisted on my bank account info. When I wouldn't provide it he insisted I send 4 post dated checks....... [source www.buddhibbs.com]

For starters you should never give a collection agency your checking account information to a collection agency unless you do not keep any money in it. The violation of the law accrued when the manager asked the consumer to send in post dated checks.

§ 808. Unfair practices [15 USC 1692f]

(2) The acceptance by a debt collector from any person of a check or other payment instrument postdated by more than five days...

I wonder if this is the same manager at Federal Bond and Collection Services that tried to intimidate the consumer that caught him in the act on a recorded phone call. Just click anywhere you see the words "Federal Bond and Collection Service" in this post to hear the collection manager accuse the consumer of "Shaking Him Down"

Even if You Owe What they are trying to collect you do not have to accept their abuse.

Even if the debt that Federal Bond and Collection Services is trying to collect is a legitimate debt it does not mean they have they can violate your rights. Here is a recent statement by the Federal Trade Commission that validates this position.

"We are not saying the people they called didn't owe the money," but the methods used violated the law, said Thomas Carter, senior legal council for the FTC's Southwest region in Dallas. As a result, all of the money amounts to penalty, not restitution.

"This is a precedent-setting case," Carter said, sparked by nearly 1,500 complaints to the agency about LTD's tactics. "It sends a strong message to the debt collection industry: You can't turn a blind eye to this kind of stuff." - The Los Angeles Times [www.latimes.com]

If they allude to things such as legal action, ignoring your obligations, out of court settlements or any other statements that attempt to devalue you or your financial situation you must report them. You can find all the information you need at How to Report Federal Bond and Collection Services.
